There are a number factors that vary that can make adoptees experience either positive or negative or both. Those factors include—open adoption or closed adoption, whether the adopted child has a relationship with their birth family or not, if the adopted child has received counseling, how educated their adoptive parents are in adoption trauma, and how supportive adoptive parents are of their adopted child's desires, thoughts, and feelings as an adoptee.
